Websites preserved forever by the British Library

The British Library curated a special collection of websites about the Diamond Jubilee for the UK Web Archive.

The UK Web Archive has been collecting examples of UK Websites since 2004. Over 10,000 titles have already been archived and are publicly available from the UK Web Archive website.  A great deal of the content in the web archive is no longer available on the live web. This makes the archive a tremendous resource for scholars and researchers who wish to consult historical data that was once published online but has since been deleted.

Members of the public were invited to nominae a site to add to the archive, using the nominations form on the UK Web Archive website.  All types of sites were sought, from corporate to personal, local to national. The collection was launched at the end of the year.

More information about the collection is available from the UK Web Archive blog.
